Most teams don't need another training day. They need someone to find out why people stopped being honest, and what it's quietly costing you. We find the cause, hand you the fix, and leave you with a plan you can run.
20 minutes. No pitch. No commitment.
I'm Jack Bell, founder of JB Consultancy Group. I'm completing a Master's in Counselling, and my career has taken me across a range of people-heavy industries and team environments.
Across all of it I kept seeing the same thing: teams breaking down not because people didn't know what to say, but because it never felt safe to be honest. The defensiveness, the pecking order, the fear of conflict. None of that gets touched by a training day.
I built JB Consultancy Group to bring a psychology-informed lens to a business problem. Not therapy. Practical, applied understanding of why people behave the way they do under pressure, and what it actually takes to change it.
If two or more of those sound familiar, the problem isn't your people. It's the conditions they're working in, and that's fixable.
It rarely shows up as a single bill. It shows up as turnover you keep paying for, decisions made too slowly, and good people quietly checking out. Here is what the research says it costs Australian businesses.
Estimated cost of workplace conflict to the Australian economy each year, through lost productivity, absenteeism and turnover.
Of employees in Australia and New Zealand are actually engaged at work. 64% are coasting, and 11% are actively working against you.
Of an employee's salary is what it costs to replace them. Most avoidable exits trace back to how people were managed and spoken to.
Of a manager's time gets swallowed by disputes and friction instead of the work you actually pay them to do.

Most owners and directors don't. They just feel the symptoms. If your team has quietly stopped being honest with each other, here is what your week starts to look like.
Problems land on your desk that should have been solved two levels below you.
Meetings end in agreement, then nothing actually changes once everyone leaves the room.
You hear about issues when they're expensive, not when they were small and easy to fix.
Good people resign "for a new opportunity" and you genuinely didn't see it coming.
Two of your best people avoid each other, and the whole team quietly plans around it.
Your managers tell you what you want to hear, so you're the last to know when something's wrong.
A Master's in Counselling means we bring real training in human behaviour and psychology to a business problem. We can see what's driving how your team behaves, not just describe it back to you.
We don't open with a training package. We find what's actually breaking honesty in your team first, then build the fix around that, so you're not paying to treat the wrong thing.
Every engagement ends with specific actions and a plan you can run, not a report that tells you what's wrong and leaves you to work out the rest.
No retainer required to start. Every engagement begins with a conversation. We won't recommend a tier until we understand what's actually going on in your business.
20 minutes. Free. You tell us what's going on. No pitch, no pressure. We ask questions, listen properly, and give you an honest read on whether we can help.
Four hours across two shorter sessions, run remotely. We speak to people from across the business, not just leadership, and surface what's actually driving the breakdown. Not what people say in the hallway, but what's really happening.
You receive specific actions in plain English. A clear read on the root cause and exactly what to do first. Not a generic report. Most clients act on it the same week.
If the problem runs deeper, we offer ongoing partnership. If the session gives you everything you need, that's a win too. There's no pressure to continue.
Typical timeline: Discovery call to first session within 5–7 business days. Most founding clients see a tangible shift in team dynamic within the first 30 days.
Every engagement starts by understanding your specific situation. The right tier depends on how deep the problem runs.
Each tier builds toward the same thing: a clear blueprint for your team. Tier 1 sketches it, Tier 2 keeps it on track, and Tier 3 builds the whole thing and hands you the plan to run it.
Not a training day. Structured conversations that surface where things are breaking down, what's causing it, and what it's costing you. The lowest-risk way to see exactly how we work before committing to anything more.
Ongoing support for businesses that need more than a one-off. We get to know your team, your patterns and your politics, and we show up regularly to catch problems before they cost you someone good.
For businesses at a turning point: scaling fast, recovering from a serious breakdown, or opening new sites and knowing the existing problems will only multiply.
We work with two kinds of leaders at law firms, accounting practices, financial planning firms and private clinics. Typically 50 to 200 people, feeling the same problem from different seats.
You can feel it in the billing gaps, the senior associate who resigned without warning, and the partner whose behaviour nobody upstream is willing to name. You've tried the team day. You need the actual cause found and fixed.
You're sitting on exit data and repeat complaints that all trace back to the same source. You know what's driving it. You need an independent voice who can name it to leadership without the political fallout landing on you.
Law firms, accounting practices, financial planning firms. Partnership tension, senior associates going quiet before they resign, decisions made in corridors and ratified in rooms where nobody objects.
Specialist clinics, allied health groups, private hospitals. Clinical staff who won't flag concerns with a senior clinician. Turnover that comes in waves. A rostering culture where silence is how you survive.
Post-seed and growth-stage businesses, 50–200 staff. What worked when the founder could talk to everyone directly stops working past a certain size. Early team culture that doesn't survive the next hire cycle.
We've done team training before and nothing changed. Why would this be different?
Training teaches people how to behave differently in a workshop. It rarely changes how they actually behave on Monday morning, because it doesn't touch the underlying dynamic. We work on the conditions that make honesty feel unsafe: the hierarchy, the trust gaps, the unspoken rules. Once those shift, behaviour follows. The training you've done probably wasn't wrong. It just treated the surface.
How do I know my team will actually open up to someone external?
That's exactly the point of bringing someone external in. People tell us things they won't tell management, because there's no political risk in doing so. Our sessions are confidential for the individual, which is the only condition under which you get honest data about what's actually happening. You don't get that from an internal review.
We're a small team. Is this overkill?
The Tier 1 engagement at $800 plus GST is specifically designed for businesses that aren't ready for a retainer. It's four hours, split across two shorter remote sessions, and it gives you a real read on what's driving the friction, and what to do about it. Most clients find it either solves the immediate problem or makes the case for why deeper work makes sense. Either way, you're not committing to anything beyond those two sessions.
What if I book a call and it's not the right fit?
The discovery call is free and there's no obligation to proceed. If after talking we're not the right fit for your situation, we'll tell you honestly, including if we think what you're dealing with doesn't need us. We'd rather send you in the right direction than take a client we can't genuinely help.
What does team consulting like this cost in Australia?
We publish our rates, which most consultancies don't. Tier 1, the Breakdown Diagnostic, is a one-time four-hour engagement, split across two remote sessions, $800 at the founding rate and $2,500 once the founding cohort closes. Tier 2, the Retention Partner, is $2,500 a month at the founding rate with a three-month minimum, rising to $4,500 for new clients once the founding cohort closes. Tier 3, the Organisational Blueprint, is a one to two week on-site engagement priced per project. All prices are exclusive of GST. The discovery call is free, and we won't recommend a tier before we understand what's actually going on.
